Yes… a new post
Sunday 10 February 2008 @ 10:35 pm

Wow, check this out, a new post… first one in almost a year.

Why don’t we post? Well, that’s a good question.

Let’s see… I don’t know. I haven’t been all about time wasting computer stuff lately. Besides doing what I need to get done on the computer, it’s back to the couch to watch more TV, or go to bed… or do social life stuff.

You know the same old stuff, radio show, work, concerts, going out with friends or family, etc.

However, maybe I will start posting random stuff again, I mean, what does it hurt? Maybe people will actually read and leave comments or something. Maybe I can make up random political stuff to see if anyone’s paying attention!

Yay for McCain Yay for Obama! hahah there, got both sides covered.
or should I say…
Yay for the War, Yay for Priuses! is that an over generalization? :)

Catch you in 10 months again… or sooner!

Molly Marie
Tuesday 3 April 2007 @ 10:16 pm

We have a new baby in the family!!! Molly Marie Hellenbrand was born at Meriter Hospital in Madison on April 2 to proud parents Jenny and Steve Hellenbrand. Matt and I went to meet her tonight. She is the cutest baby I’ve ever seen! I couldn’t believe how perfect her skin/complexion was. Most babies I’ve visited are red or purple with bumps here and there, but not Molly, she was perfect. Jenny said she scored a 10 on the “Apgar” (The Apgar score was devised in 1952 by Virginia Apgar as a simple and repeatable method to quickly and summarily assess the health of newborn children immediately after childbirth. The Apgar score is determined by evaluating the newborn baby on five simple criteria on a scale from zero to two and summing up the five values – Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, Respiration).

Molly slept while I held her, she was so peaceful and sweet……………. until the nurse came in and decided to take her blood pressure. Molly squirmed a little bit while the nurse connected the device to her arm, but remained quiet long enough to obtain a good reading, however, then the nurse had to connect the device to her ankle which meant we had to unwrap Molly from her nice tight blanket bundle, needless to say she wasn’t too happy with that. Eventually the nurse finally gave up and said she’d come back and try again later. I got up out of the chair and swayed around with her for a little bit in attempt to bring her back to relaxation. That may have helped decrease the volume in her cry, but didn’t stop it all together. That’s when I turned her back over to Mom. It was beautiful to watch Jenny and Steve with the baby. We’re so, so happy for them………….

Daughtry
Thursday 29 March 2007 @ 1:00 pm

chris1.jpg
Matt and I saw Daughtry at the Annex last night – GREAT show! Still can’t believe he lost American Idol to Taylor Hicks. Soul Patrol was good and all,… but c’mon. The Annex was pretty packed. I didn’t have the nerve to venture out into the huge sea of tightly packed people. Instead, I stood at stage left, which turned out to be a fantastic place to be! Chris was very good about walking around, looking around. He was probably 20 feet from me at max and zero feet from me at min (yes, he touched my hand)! I know, I’m a dork, but I still get all giddy and teenagerish around famous people.

The band was strong and Chris’ voice was seamless. I think he played almost the whole Daughtry album. Chris also sang a cover of Pearl Jam’s ‘Black’ – awesome!

All in all, I was very impressed. Thanks to my dear husband for getting us into this SOLD OUT show!

Snow!!
Sunday 25 February 2007 @ 10:55 am

The most snow we’ve seen in forever!! It’s cool, I feel like we should just sit inside all day and have tomato soup and grilled cheese, maybe watch a movie or four! Right now it’s kind of let up and I guess it gives the plows a change to push it out of the way.

Friday night we had a Pampered chef party here, being the only guy here, it was kinda fun, and the kitchen gadgets we saw and could get are really cool.

Other than that, just keeping busy doing this and that. I know it’s been stale around here, so, for that we’re sorry!

Shhhh
Wednesday 20 September 2006 @ 10:35 am

I’m posting from work.

Hi! Softball season is still chuggin’ along for me… Fall ball started a few weeks ago. Mike and I are headed to Milwaukee on Thurs/Fri for Gigantour and Hatebreed shows at the Rave.

Last weekend, Jess and I went down to Monroe for Cheese Days! We ate cheese, hung around the beautiful downtown of Monroe, and even got to tour a big dairy farm and a cheese factory. The cheese factory is the only one in North America that makes stinky Limburger cheese. Yum!

Wow
Tuesday 27 June 2006 @ 6:53 pm

Yes… as most posts lately, I will refer to how lame I am at posting. A lot has gone on lately. We moved! Jess and I are now “homeowners!” We didn’t think it could happen so fast, but it sure did, and we packed up and moved in, in late April. After much painting and settling in… I think we might be able to relax a bit. Oh wait, it’s summer, there’s lots to do!

Jess started taking classes towards her Bachelor’s degree, and I’m still playing softball. Then there’s this and that here and there every weekend or night.

For real this time, I’ll try and post more here and there. It just takes a while to get back in the habit again. It’s like too easy to post, so there’s no excuse not to.

Does anyone read this anymore anyways?

:)

Thanks for reading!

Chicago
Tuesday 28 March 2006 @ 2:23 pm

Ok, this is my second attempt at this posting since the first one mysteriously disappeared. So anyway, I was going to talk about our trip to Chicago last weekend for the Dream Theater concert. We arrived at Tom and Bruce’s a little after noon visisted for awhile and then went to lunch at our favorite IL fast food place - PORTILLOS! (famous for their italian beef- Mmmmm). After that we headed for downtown to wait in line for the DT show. We waited from about 330-7 - really not a bad wait, it was a sunny day, not too cold. We talked, listened to other fans talk, watched people try to cut in line and laughed when they were hauled away by security. They let us into the venue (Congress Theater) around 7ish. We got great seats, 3rd row center in the balcony. Drums were great, so was guitar…a good show overall, I was entertained every minute!

So Sunday we decided to see a Blackhawk’s game. Cheap seats were only $10 (granted they were up in the nosebleeds). Got to see the famous Wayne Gretzky as Chicago played Phoenix. Additional entertainment came from the high pitch screechy girl behind us, and the yeller man in front of us…”More fighting, less hockey!”….good times :)

A posting!
Sunday 12 February 2006 @ 11:18 pm

Wow, over a month since the last post. I guess when I got the site up, I was sick of doing web stuff for a while, and Jess’ last post was so long, well, I guess maybe we figured that’d keep everyone for a while, but you know how it is. As hard as it is to get into the habit of doing something (like posting stuff)… it’s WAY easier to get into the habit of NOT doing anything! Seems to happen a lot like that for me!

Anyways, nothing new has really been happening, it’s been a somewhat routine month. We have been dabbling in the idea of looking for a house. We’ve been getting a lot of nudges from family to take the plunge. It’s a bit of a challenge to find something in the price range that will be somewhat comfortable, without being “house poor.”

Work’s been about the same, some fun things are going on. I like to be involved in projects, we’re working on new furniture for a couple areas, we got a new network copier/scanner, so it’s been kinda fun learning.

Jess and I managed to see Nickelback about a week ago in Madison. While talking about some other radio show thing with the record label, I jokingly asked for tickets, and she said “no problem!” Opening for them was Trapt and Default. (i was bored, Jess loved ‘em!) These are all bands that my friend (radio show sidekick too) Mike make fun of A LOT. Well, to be fair, Nickelback does have some catchy tunes and the only real problem is, they are WAY overplayed on the radio. They put on a great live show though. Some really cool stage stuff, and they just came out to have a good time and “rock the house” as they say. The drum solo was spectacular and yup… big concert pyro was a-okay.

We’ve been working out at the club more and more, Jess keeps losin’ weight, and I just need to get in the habit of eating well. (see above about habits!) I’m a sucker for the eliptical thinger. That’s the only thing I do, I need to get back to the circuit of weight machines. Jess bounces between a bike, eliptical and treadmill, as well as some water aerobics. It’s kinda fun, and after some workouts we can just float in the pool and hang in the hot tub.

That’s it for now… I promise the next post won’t take as long!!

Holiday Summary
Wednesday 4 January 2006 @ 4:09 pm

Our holidays were very nice this year! We had early Christmas Dec. 19 at Lynne and Marv’s house. Steve and Jenny were there along with Jenny’s parents, Paul and Kathy. Of course Sandi and Farrell were there also. The house was decorated so beautifully, every room with a little bit of Christmas detail. We had delicious appetizers laid out on the kitchen bar, along with the traditional Christmas cookies baked by Lynne and also some from Jenny. Kathy brought chocolate covered peanuts- MMMm!…were they good! We got lots of great presents including a muffin tin, cookie sheet, toaster oven, bread knife, candles, and a really soft sheet set! Lynne made pot roast for dinner, it was fantastic! Other menu items included mashed potatoes, pear and avocado salad, corn, and rolls.

We left for Minnesota on the afternoon of Dec 21. We arrived in Plymouth around 10:30 that night where Oran and Vicki awoke from their couch snoozing to greet us at the door. We visited for a brief time and then said our goodnights. The next day Matt and I did a little bit of shopping, then picked up Oran and Vicki for lunch at Davannis – one of the restaurants that I really miss from Minn. After that we went back to their place, lounged a bit. I took a nice long bath in the Jacuzzi tub, while Matt napped. Oran worked really hard in the kitchen to prepare us a phenomenal turkey dinner. Other menu items included yams, mashed potatoes, green beans, and zucchini bread. For those of you who don’t already know this…my dad is the mashed potatoes and gravy KING! People try, but no one has mastered this dish like he has. Yummmy!! We talked for a long time, watched a little TV in the family room and once again said our goodnights. The next morning we had breakfast at Maggie’s in Wayzata – my very favorite breakfast place in the whole world! The French toast is TDF. After that we went to the Science Museum of MN. They moved to a brand new location on the river…all new exhibits…LOTS of fun! Stopped back at Oran and Vicki’s briefly and then Matt and I left to go visit my friend Angie in Savage. Angie and her husband Matt have 3 gorgeous children that my Matt and I had lots of fun playing with, and taking pictures of (see gallery). It was so nice to spend time with them! Christmas Eve morning we celebrated with Oran and Vicki (and of course Nick the cat) opening presents by the fire. Some of our presents included a cookie sheet, muffin tin, Aveda products and a temperature reading fork for grilling.

We left there around 12 and headed to Minnetonka to see my mom, stepdad and brothers. That night we were invited to a friend of the family’s party. They served champagne and caviar along with other classy hors devours. It was very nice to visit with the Mooney family. I used to baby-sit their boys years ago. They’ve grown up a lot. I remember having lots of fun with them. Christmas morning was breakfast and presents. Some of our gifts included a muffin tin, cookie sheet, movies, gift certificates and a gym bag. Breakfast was good…Mom made new things this year. We attempted to do the traditional thing and see a movie Christmas day, but the internet times were wrong, and we arrived way before the theater opened for shows. So we went home and watched movies there instead. Dinner was wonderful… steaks, green beans, potatoes – very, very yummy. Dave and Karen came over for dessert – always nice to see them. Next morning was shopping day! It’s the yearly tradition that I and my mother (now Matt included) hit the mall for the clearance sales. We didn’t go too crazy this year, but ended up with a few nice finds, and a lot of gifts for next year. Matt and I headed for home around 1:00, said goodbye to everyone at the house, and then stopped down at the ice rink to say goodbye to Zak who just recently started working there as an attendant. We got home around 5:30 that night. It’s always a treat to see the kitties when we come home. It was a Monday night, so Matt had the radio show, I went with that night, since we both had Tuesday off. Wednesday night we had the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert and wound up with tickets in the FRONT ROW CENTER…WOW…doesn’t get better than that!…and a great show as always!

Thursday was Christmas with Pat, and Lisa. We went over around 6, Sandi and Farrell met us there. We were anxious for presents so we opened them right away, some of our presents were calendars, butter dish, and gift certificates. Lisa cooked a delicious turkey for dinner, with mashed potatoes, yams, broccoli and rolls. For dessert she served a yummy apple pie. We had fun visiting, touring the new house, the artwork was all hung…its looking really great.

New Years Eve was spent with Sandi and Farrell, we cooked up a bunch of fattening hors devours, and grazed all night long. We stopped briefly when we went to the UW Badger hockey game. Badgers won! (and scored 5 goals which entitled us to free ice cream from Culvers) After the game - back to S&F’s. Ate more food, played some games, watched Dick Clark countdown to the New Year.

And wow, as I read through all of that, I notice that so much of it is about food – no wonder we all gained weight!

So here we are…2006. Happy New Year to all of you! Hope your holidays were as lovely as ours. And definitely let me know if you need any muffins or cookies baked for you ;)

Jess’ First Post
Tuesday 13 December 2005 @ 9:08 pm

Hi :) I’d first like to say thanks to my sweet husband for including me on this site. I know that the whole web design thing is really fun for him and I’m so happy that he was willing to share the fun with me. The new site looks GREAT, don’t you think?! He worked really hard to make everything so nice. I’m so proud of his talents!

So, I have some good news to report….Capitol, the insurance company that I work for, offers many educational opportunities, which I finally decided to participate in this year. I enrolled in INS21 class (basic insurance principles) and the test was yesterday - I passed! Yay, I’m so proud! Next term I’ll enroll in INS 22, and once I pass INS 23, I’ll earn some bonus dollars :)

The New Site
Monday 12 December 2005 @ 1:12 am

Well, it’s about time, right? Well, I’ve wanted to update this here website for a long time, but since I got married, I didn’t want to do it without including Jess. So here we are with a blog we can both post to, along with the photo gallery. I started fresh with a new host, and basically had to kind of get back in web design, code mode to figure out how to import a lot of stuff. A lot of work went into the old site and setting it up and stuff, why not incorporate everything and build from there? Yup, neato torpedo. There’s new blog software which makes it a little tougher to make a comment (you gotta type a code from a picture), as the comment spam was one of the big reasons why I just stopped posting. I spent a lot of time trying to get just the right stuff working and to make it look semi pretty too.

As you know, if you know me, the word “bweeta” comes in handy for pretty much anything cute, adorable, and just irresistable. So, to start fresh, I signed up for a new web hosting place which included a new domain, and we chose “bweeta.com” We love our cats very much and I personally have always just loved that word bweeta, it sums it all up so nicely. The header graphic sums up the kitties and their bweetaness a little bit. Come back often, as Jess will be throwing a lot of pictures in the gallery, I’ll be tweaking the site and posting more!

Also, along with all of this, I redid my radio show’s site. I learned a bit on that, because I knew exactly what I wanted to do with that, and I honed some skills getting this one ready. Visit it at it’s official home: www.moshpitradio.com

:)

What’s This? A Post?

Yes. A post, a first post in 7 months. A lot has happened, I got married, moved in with my wife and am having a great time. I am in the process of actually converting this site to a Mambo content management system. I just have to figure out a bunch of things, so bear with the changes coming soon!
